Supermarkets to cut the usage of carrier bags by 50%

The Environment minister Jane Kennedy has announced today (18th December 2008) that Britain’s leading supermarkets have agreed to cut the number of carrier bags they give out by 50%.

The supermarkets have given themselves a deadline of spring 2009 to implement this bold move.
